FuzzyMUD Restoration Project is a tribute to a MUD I played nearly 10 years ago.
It is mostly for my own amusement, and for good memories, but I'm sure others will
be interested too, so it will be open for playing when I have completed most of the
tasks I have laid out.
You can follow the development blog at ProjectFuzzyMUD on twitter.

Crappy FAQ:
Q: Are you the original implementor of Fuzzy MUD?
A: No, just someone who played it.
Q: Do you know what happened to the original implmentor of Fuzzy MUD?
A: No.
Q: What will you do if the original implmentor of Fuzzy MUD comes back?
A: Give the project to him if he wants it. I just want to play it. Until
then I will keep the project and leave him in the credits.
Q: Why not give it to me?
A: Either me or him, and he's not here, so its me. Assuming the original
implementor can remember back 10 years, I'm sure I can identify them
with a few questions.
Q: Do you know what you're doing?
A: I'm a software engineer by trade, so I generally know what I'm doing.
Although, I'm a pretty mediocre engineer, but I think I can handle this.
Q: Will you hire other imms/builders?
A: Hire implies I'd pay someone. That's hilarious. As for bringing in more
immortals, yes I'd like to. Atleast one person to deal with players, and
a builder or two. I remember the old Fuzzy MUD being anti-OLC, but we
already have it, and it will be useful, but I probably won't allow too many
new areas. Part of the charm of the MUD was the simplistic areas.
Q: Whats the point? I could just play WoW.
A: Go for it.
Q: Will it be exactly like I remember it?
A: Its been 10 years for me, and I don't remember everything so well. I'll do
my best, but your memories would be appreciated, send email about the things
you liked most, and follow the dev log on twitter.
Q: Will you add anything new?
A: I haven't really decided. Probably not though. I plan to get it into playable
shape the way it used to be first. Then ask the community to see if they want
anything, I guess.
Q: Will the old areas be back?
A: It appears alot of the areas were either stock, or publically available
on the internet. I'll do my best to get those added, but the rest, we'll have
to wing it.
Q: Will you have [my favorite feature here]?
A: If I can remember it, yes! E-mail or ask on twitter about it, so you know
I won't forget.
Q: How far along are you?
A: ProjectFuzzyMUD
Q: When will you be done?
A: I'm aiming for the beginning of June 2010 to be finished with the major tasks I have
planned. I think I can hit it much earlier than that, but I am quite lazy, so it
is a realistic goal I think.
Q: What about the funny help files?
A: I'll get tanked some friday night and try to recreate them and fail.
Q: How can I help?
A: Recreating something from 10 years ago has been difficult, mostly because
I can't remember details so well. The programming is simple, the remembering
the little things that come up is damn near impossible. For instance, do you
remember all the buyable quest equipment? I remember pieces, but not all of them
so I've winged it pretty much. If you remember better than I, please let me know!
Other than that, I don't need much help at the moment. I might look for another
imm/builder down the road, but not right now.
Playtesting will be needed soon, any help with that would be greatly appreciated.
Someone to make an actual website would be nice.
